Andy Explains Obvious Jokes
Huh.

The DVs in Pokemon G1 and G2 are four bits of data, and the IVs in G3-5 are five bits of data.

Which is why there are sixteen possible ratings for a DV and thirty-two for an IV.

Which is why you can’t trade up from G2 to G3.

Okay, fixed a little more.

Constitution is now based on Defense, and Dexterity is based on Speed. (Charisma is also still based on speed.) Physical attacks use the Strength modifier, special attacks use the Intelligence modifier, “defensive” moves use the Wisdom modifier, and “support” moves use the Charisma modifier. (List is here.)

Stats are determined by [base stat]/8+1d6-3; add up all decimals, and the lowest non-divisible stats gets +1. If you still have 1 left over from decimals, add to whichever stat you see fit. Roll 2d6 to determine nature; 1 is Constitution/Defense, 2 is Attack/Strength, 3 is Dexterity/Speed, 4 is Intelligence/Special Attack, 5 is Wisdom/Special Defense, 6 is Charisma/Speed. (For example, a roll of 1 and 3 yields a Relaxes nature; a roll of 1 and 6 also yields a Relaxed nature. This will be used in role playing.)

Example Pokemon! Ampharos.

90 HP, 75 Att, 75 Def, 115 SpA, 90 SpD, 55 Spe:
CON: 9.375
STR: 9.375
DEX: 6.875
INT: 14.375
WIS: 11.25
CHA:  6.875

.375+.375+.875+.375+.25+.875=3.125, so you have three points to give out. It becomes:
CON: 10
STR: 9
DEX: 7
INT: 14
WIS: 11
CHA:  7

2d6: 5, 3; Sassy; increase WIS and decrease DEX by 1.
CON: 10
STR: 9
DEX: 6
INT: 14
WIS: 12
CHA:  7

6d6: 4, 5, 3, 6, 1, 6; +1, +2, +0, +3, -2, +3:
CON: 11
STR: 11
DEX: 6
INT: 17
WIS: 10
CHA: 10

Select a move set and now you have a playable character!

A few Pokemon:

Abra/Relaxed
CON 9
STR 12
DEX 9
INT 24
WIS 18
CHA 21

Gastly/Brave
CON 9
STR 15
DEX 12
INT 25
WIS 9
CHA 16

Shuckle/Impish
CON 10
STR 4
DEX 55
INT 6
WIS 53
CHA 8

Shuckle provides a pretty certain impasse. I rolled 8 for bot dexterity and wisdom, (the equation being [base stat]/5+1d8.)

Technically the Haunter’s also shiny since its outline is blue instead of red.

I still love this picture.

what the inside of togepi looks like

requested by “Anonymous”. LOL I hope this did our thoughts justice. For those of you not in the know, the inside of Togepi is really a tiny Mew in a yolk sac with nerve endings connected to the extremities.
In more detail, Mew’s movements directly correlate to those of the shell-Pokemon, Togepi. Movement of hands, feet, eyes, and mouth move this way. The nerve endings are mainly for survival and blood circulation and external stimuli (which Mew cannot feel merely by telepathy). I’d like to think that Mew’s evolution into Togetic ruined its plans to eat Misty and gang when it had to leave to protect the others. But the silver lining is that it evolved via happiness, so Misty truly made it happy and it probably ended up changing its ways from human parasite (which landed on Earth in its egg-pod that humans believe are Togepi) to protector of the innocent.
Oh god, I’m having too much fun with these.

I remember when I got Mew in the Game Boy Color :PSo lovely memories ^-^

A special stat of 26.

This dude used the Gambler on Rt. 8, but you can also use the Youngster with a level 17 Slowpoke on Rt. 25 to get a Mew earlier in the game.

(Sorry I used a translator to read this because I don’t know Portuguese, and I am not too comfortable using a translator to reply to this because they don’t work that well. If you understand both of these though please teach me Portuguese!)

The thing I believe is this: Giovanni didn’t want a clone of Mew necessarily, he wanted an AUGMENTED Mew, and aside from Arceus Mew is definitely the best slate to work with (since Shaymin is grass-type and Jirachi is steel-type, and fire-type moves are extremely common, while powerful dark- and bug- type moves are not so much.)

So basically in G1 Mewtwo was even more powerful than a converted Arceus, because they took Mew’s base stats and increased them as team Rocket saw necessary. But Mewtwo has a much higher brain capacity than Giovanni, as well as much more attack power. If Giovanni had wanted to control him he would have treated him more as an equal than a tool.

I believe Giovanni wanted to possess Mewtwo’s body, in place of his own. Think back to the games, did the Bill sequence with the Pokemon/human body switch not seem arbitrary to you? Like yes there needed to be a reason for him to give you the SS Ticket, but there really didn’t? People give you stuff in those games all the time for literally no reason. Bill is in Cerulean Cape, and Mewtwo is in Cerulean Cave, two screens over. Between them, at the start of the game, is Team Rocket.

It just makes absolutely perfect sense as far as I’m concerned.
